Hydronephrosis and Hydroureter (Caused by Obstruction by a Renal Calculus)
This is a right kidney specimen that is grossly bisected. Noticeable dilation of the pelvicalyceal system is observed, accompanied by substantial atrophy of renal tissue, particularly in the cortex. Additionally, a sizable brown calculus is evident in the renal pelvis near the ureteropelvic junction.
Hydronephrosis Hydroureter
This left nephrectomy and ureterectomy specimen displays hydronephrosis and atrophic thinning in the kidney, along with a dilated ureter containing small brown-black calcium oxalate stones. It exemplifies a case of hydronephrosis and hydroureter due to obstructing ureteral calculi.
