The 3B Scientific Postpartum Haemorrhage Simulator / PPH Trainer Pro is a compact, versatile and realistic obstetric training simulation tool. This medical training model has been created to enhance both the competence and confidence of student midwives and healthcare professionals when recognising, evaluating, managing and treating postpartum bleeding, whilst still providing best practice postpartum care to new mothers.
The Postpartum Haemorrhage Simulator by 3B Scientific looks in-depth at the following three postpartum bleeding causes:
- Uterine atony (Tonus)
- Laceration and rupture (Trauma)
- Retained tissue from the placenta (Tissue)
This postpartum haemorrhage trainer is anatomically accurate, including ischial spines, pubic bones and sacrum. The vaginal canal and postpartum cervix have been designed and created in SKINlike high-quality silicone, giving this postpartum haemorrhage training model a realistic feel and texture.
The attached pump allows for easy adjustment of the uterine tone, and a deflation bulb can be used to simulate an atonic or contracted uterus. An atonic uterus on this training model feels soft, boggy and enlarged, whilst a contracted uterus can feel harder and tighter, similar to a realistic size.
The training tool can be used for the following procedures:
- Practice fundal massage and bimanual compression.
- Suturing of vaginal tears, rupture inserts are replaceable.
- 360-degree cervical visual inspection. The cervix has a realistic after-childbirth size and softness.
- Manual removal of a retained placenta. Three residual pieces can be placed in the uterus to train medical students on the required interventions, like uterine curettage.
- Intrauterine balloon tamponade. The size of the uterus cavity can accommodate the placement of a Bakri Balloon.
- Uterine packing with gauze.
- Presentation of severe obstetric haemorrhage cases.
- The volume of the blood reservoir is up to 3L. The flow speed is adjustable and up to 400 ml/min.
- Blood loss estimation. The volume scale on the blood reservoir can help students to gain competence when estimating blood loss.
- Bladder catheterisation. The insertion of a urinary catheter is possible. No fluid drainage is required
