Discover the innovative Surf Rescue Training Manikin, a manikin designed as a water rescue dummy for tube rescue practice, inflatable rescue boat (IRB) racing and IRB driver training. Aside from water rescue scenarios the manikin can also be used for jet ski rescue training.
The manikin enables IRB driver training in a wide range of different environments, e.g., in the roughest surf, close to the reef and in the coldest weathers. Users will gain confidence to do the following:
- Allow crews to demonstrate their techniques and abilities to perform rescues
- Bring rescue crews together to discuss and improve IRB techniques and operations
- Promote safety awareness techniques for the crews and patients in simulated rescue scenarios.
The bright orange overalls of the manikin and the SOLAS reflective tape on the head makes the manikin conspicuous and easily visible in open water. There is added flexibility of the manikin in the water due to the built in Polypropylene strips, that also prevent the manikin from bending in half.
The unequal weight distribution allows the weight to be lowered from the torso to the hips to improve stability, particularly in a moving/rolling ocean. A live volunteer is simulated as the arms are built aloft, but there is no risk of dislocated shoulders or wrists.
The manikin is constructed using the same flame-retardant material which is used in Police ballistic/stab vests. This makes it durable and tough enough to withstand being buried under heavy objects or dropped from height without damage. It should be noted that although it is durable, it should not be used in temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius or flashover scenarios.
