The model realistically simulates a human leg with several severe injuries such as:
- Laceration
- Bullet entry wounds
- Bullet exit wounds
A key feature of the model is the bleeding function, which enables the flow of blood through the bullet wounds.
Students can practise and perfect important skills such as:
- Applying direct pressure at the open wound
- Packing the wound with gauze
- Applying a pressure dressing
- Applying a tourniquet to stabilise the bleeding (tourniquet not included)
Trainers can use the model to develop highly realistic scenarios that will offer students the unique opportunity to learn all about major trauma management. Students will have to first assess the severity of the wounds using an ABCDE approach and then perform the required first aid to successfully managing the bleeding.
Due to the model's interactive nature, when the appropriate management plan is performed and the application of a tourniquet is initiated, the bleeding will stop.
