Learn key surgical skills and enhance clinical skills sessions with this Aseptic Surgery and Surgical Incision Design Training Model.
The model is realistic and simulates an adult male trunk with various anatomical features such as the sternocleidomastoid muscle, the sternal horn and the clavicle. Marked on the model are also 5 different kinds of wounds, they are as follows:
- a wound from the removal of the drainage tube
- a scar after incision
- a short postoperative wound
- a mid-length postoperative wound
- a long postoperative wound
The locations of these wounds are representative of common surgical procedures, such as a thyroidectomy, sternotomy, thoracotomy, livery surgery, appendectomy and a nephrectomy, to name a few. Wound disinfection and sterile techniques, including the use of iodine as a disinfectant, are some of the various core skills which will be developed using this model. The model will also provide students with practical knowledge of how to carry out surgical incisions.
The Aseptic Surgery and Surgical Incision Design Training Model is versatile and has many different purposes, including for use as a teaching tool in medical education, practical skills and surgical training.
