Alastair is a Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Physician and also a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. Alastair qualified as a doctor in 2003 and has been a consultant now for twelve years. He works clinically in the NHS and Private Sectors in Acute Musculoskeletal Clinics. His clinical interests include sports related concussion, MSK injury, MSK ultrasound and SEM/MSK education.
He is currently the Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rhinos Netball and has held the post of Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rugby where he oversaw the medical departments of both Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union. He currently provides medical services for the Rugby Football Union. He is a course instructor for the Rugby Football Unions pre-hospital Immediate Care in Sport course and forms part of the Twickenham international match day medical team.
Alastair has previously worked for Tonga as their doctor during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and has held the role of Immediate Care doctor at the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup and 2016 Rugby Union Junior World Cup. Alastair is also the Director of medicine for ecovery, a digital clinical triage platform and Simply MSK.
