Introducing the PEDI Blue Neonatal Patient Simulator with Newborn HAL Body and SmartSkin, a paediatric manikin for the training of resuscitation and advanced life support training. The simulator is beneficial for both students and professionals in the healthcare field, as it allows them to learn life-saving skills in a relaxed and professional environment.

The manikin mimics a full-size articulating neonate and comes with anatomically accurate structures, such as a realistic tongue, vocal cords, trachea, and oesophagus, for airway management exercises. There are a number of procedures that can be demonstrated using this device, including:

  • General airway management procedures
  • Oral or nasal intubation and suctioning
  • Sellick manoeuvre / cricoid pressure
  • Intubation using a Miller 1 blade and an uncuffed 2.4 ET tube or LMA.
  • Umbilical catheterisation
  • Neonatal CPR using either the two-thumb 'encircling' technique or the two-finger alternate compression method.
  • Delicate Intraosseous access for fluid resuscitation, drug delivery and laboratory evaluation
  • Injection and intravenous techniques with an optional training arm
  • Bag valve mask ventilation with bilateral chest expansions and realistic chest rise.

The PEDI Blue Neonatal Patient Simulator with Newborn HAL Body and SmartSkin features a prominent venous network. This allows students to observe peripheral and central cyanosis, comparing it to a healthy skin tone. The innovative OMNI Code Blue pack is also included and provides real-time CPR feedback, so that students can monitor their performance.

In spite of the complexity of newborn life support, the simulator aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop and build confidence in these critical skills.
