The Adult Skull Phantom is designed for medical imaging research and treatment planning, including non-invasive HIFU brain surgeries. Based on a CT scan of a human male head, the skull is made from a patented epoxy-based bone material suitable for Ultrasound, MRI, and X-Ray/CT applications. Its realistic three-layered structure with adjustable inner porosity (diploe) allows customization for specific project requirements, and the phantom accurately replicates the thickness of a real human skull.
In MRI applications, the phantom exhibits realistic T2 relaxation times, making it ideal for T2-weighted imaging. Proton Density imaging also yields high-quality results. T1-weighted imaging is possible, though T1 values are less accurate (~100 ms).
The phantom includes the four paranasal sinuses and features removable components to allow advanced training and research.
