A two-sided, enlarged model showing sections of skin and hair and the effects of ageing. One side of the model shows the anatomy of youthful skin and hair follicles. The reverse of the hair loss and ageing skin model shows the effect of ageing in three stages, and highlights the following effects:

  • decreasing elastin and collagen
  • wrinkles
  • development of age spots
  • decreased blood flow due to shrinking blood vessels
  • thinning hair follicle length and width associated with the balding process
  • greying hair
  • shrinking fat cells
  • smaller sweat glands
  • decreased sensory receptors.
