Learn how to manage and care for trauma patients with this diverse and engaging All-purpose Care and Trauma Manikin. It is an exceptional piece of training equipment for healthcare students and professionals, particularly those specialising in emergency medicine.
Trainers will never be short of lesson ideas when using this trauma manikin. Examples of scenarios the manikin can simulate include:
- Car injuries
- Burns
- Stab wounds
- Pneumothorax
- Major haemorrhage
Students can then practice stabilising and managing the injuries using live-saving clinical skills such as suturing and tracheal tube suctioning.
To create a high level of realism, the limbs of the manikin can be infused with blood to simulate bleeding. They can also be dismantled if trainers choose to opt for an amputated presentation. Additionally, when students administer intravenous injections, they will hear a ‘pop’ and observe flashback of blood, confirming correct needle placement.
The model contains three interchangeable heads:
- Standard intubation head with manually generated carotid pulse and dilated and normal pupils.
- Trauma intubation head with avulsed ear, lacerations of eye, lip, neck and scalp, anisocoria, bleeding nose, impaled cheek, broken teeth, contused face.
- General trauma head with fractured skull, nose, jawbone and cervical vertebra, unilateral mydriasis, hemotympanum, deviated trachea.
After sessions students will feel well-equipped to deal with similar, real-life events when they present in the community or hospital.
