Introducing the Bone Clones Horse Skull, a high-quality 2-part specimen comprising the cranium and separate lower jaw, offering an excellent study model for equine and comparative anatomy.
This large, slender skull is characterised by long, broad nasals that taper towards the front of the face. Prominent incisors at the front of the mouth are adapted for cropping grass, while six large, squared molars on each side of both the upper and lower jaws are designed for grinding fibrous plant material. The gap between the incisors and molars, known as the bar, may contain a canine tooth, although this is not present in all horses.
The eyes are positioned well back on the skull, a typical feature of grazing animals that provides a wide field of vision. The braincase is relatively small in proportion to the overall skull. This specimen is from a large male retired police horse and clearly demonstrates the anatomical adaptations of an herbivorous ungulate.
As Bone Clones products are imported to order from the USA, we regret that all models are non-returnable unless faulty. Please speak to our Customer Services team for more information.
