This comprehensive product includes both the Life/Form Diagnostic (LF01090) and Procedural Ear Trainer and the Pneumatic Otoscopy Kit (LF01085, both available to buy separately).
The Diagnostic and Procedural Ear Trainer LF01066 enables medical students and medical staff to practise examining the human ear, correctly diagnose common complaints, remove a foreign body, clean the ear canal and perform a myringotomy with an ear tube. This ear model is anatomically realistic and includes both left and right ears which can be removed for easy cleaning and storage. The middle ear can be filled with various fluids for extra realism and the instructor is able to control the consistency and colour of the fluids.
Included with this kit are 9 diagnostic cartridges with full-colour photo prints which illustrate a normal tympanic membrane, serous otitis media, otitis media with effusion, chronic otitis media with small and large tympanic membrane perforations, tympanosclerosis, retracted tympanic membrane and 2 views of attic cholesteatoma. This trainer is supplied with two ears, specially formulated ear wax, approx 100 pre-cut eardrums, 3 standard middle ear cartridges with syringe, a hard carry case and adjustable stand. This kit does not include otoscope, surgical instruments or ventilation tubes.
The Pneumatic Otoscopy Kit is an exciting additional feature for the Life/form Diagnostic and Procedural Ear Trainer. While pneumatic otoscopy is indispensable for examination of the ear, studies have shown that most are performed incorrectly. With the feedback offered by this kit, students and practicing physicians can learn how to generate the correct amount of air pressure needed to perform accurate pneumatic otoscopy to test for tympanic membrane mobility. Kit includes a pneumatic pressure gauge, two pneumatic ears with pressure tubing, and a package of approximately 100 eardrums.
