This anthropological skull model (VP751/1 / 1001294) is beautifully cast from scientifically accurate copies of a Neanderthal skull which can be found at the Institute of Anthropology and Human Genetics for Biologists at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Germany.
This unique skull which was found at La Chapelle-aux-Saints in 1908 and is approximately 35,000 - 45,000 years old. The replica skull is mounted on a pedestal which contains a relief map showing the geographical area where the specimen was found. This anthropological skull model is an accurate copy of a 50 - 55 year old male Homo (sapiens) neanderthalensis from early Europe. The La Chapelle-aux-Saints skull is a great tool for teaching and learning the anatomy of early human species.
