The VATA Pat Pressure Injury Staging Model showcases a variety of pressure injuries, including Stage 1 (in both darkly and lightly pigmented skin), Stage 2, Stage 3 (with undermining, tunnelling and slough), a shallow Stage 4 over the malleolus which also features exposed bone and tendons, and an unstageable eschar/slough wound. This medical trainer can also be used to practice routine cleansing and dressing changes.
Due to skin pigmentation pressure injuries can appear differently. The darkly pigmented skin section shows how different Stage 1, blood blisters and DTPI (Deep Tissue Pressure Injuries) may look.
The Pat Pressure Injury Staging Model is a valuable medical training tool when it comes to educating healthcare providers, medical students, patients, families and caregivers in the identification and staging of pressure injuries.
