Perfect for teaching and practising palpating and accessing IVAD's (Implanted Vascular Access Devices) the VATA Port "Body in a Box" training model is a great low-cost, compact and lightweight training tool to get started.
This anatomical training model includes a real port, making it possible to simulate accessing the following IVAD placements: normal, ??tipping ?, ??wandering ?, and deeply placed. The two inserts for the "wandering" and "tipping" ports are interchangeable. The 35ml simulated blood bag is neatly tucked inside the model, simulated blood will appear on pullback, to confirm successful access. This can be accessed in or out of the case. The "body in a box" training model does not require setting up and can be used immediately, within the box, for patient simulation.
There is a flap placed over the port, which consists of two thicknesses, there is a 635mm side which is used to demonstrate accessing a port at a standard depth, whilst the 127mm side will simulate the feeling when palpating a deeply placed port.
The VATA "Body In A Box" with real port, allows individuals to:
- Simulate accessing ??tipping ?, ??wandering ? or deeply placed IVADs.
- Confirm successful access with a ??blood ? return.
- Improve hand-eye coordination and gain confidence
The skin flap on this medical training tool is made of VATA Dermalike II material, this material offers the following unique properties:
- Feels and palpates like human tissue for a more realistic learning experience.
- Tear-resistant, extending the lifespan of the product.
- Realistic access experience with minimal needle drag.
This model also consists of an underlying soft tissue block, allowing the port to "float" when palpating through the skin flap.
