This Down's Syndrome Baby Teaching Model simulates the 12 common physical attributes that a baby born with Down's syndrome may have.

These attributes featured on the Down's Syndrome Baby model include:

  • Almond-shaped eyes with an upward slant
  • Brushfield spots - white spots on the iris of the eye
  • Skinfold that covers the inner corner of the eyes
  • Flat facial profile
  • Broad & prominent forehead
  • Small, flat nose
  • Ears that are lower and set further back
  • A low & weak muscle tone, resulting in unsupported head and limbs, and additional neck folds
  • Larger torso in relation to their arms and legs
  • Deep crease across the centre of their palm
  • Bent fifth finger
  • Wide space between the big and second toe

In addition to the baby simulator, the package also comes with online access to the Understanding Down syndrome curriculum, covering the associated health challenges, risk factors and misconceptions of Down syndrome. Included in this are student materials, survey & assessment tools and presentation slides (approx. 1 teaching hour).
