The effects of rheumatoid arthritis are demonstrated by this full-size Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Hand Model.
Cutaway views reveal the effects of the disease on the different joints and ligaments including the flexor and extensor tendons, cartilage, muscle, bones, ligaments, joint spaces and synovial fluid. The model shows a cross-section of the metacarpophalangeal joint capsules to demonstrate progression of RA which can include synovial swelling, degeneration and erosion. Other associated deformities are demonstrated including swan neck on the second and boutonniere on the third phalanges.
The flexor tendons have been designed to lift up to view the carpals. This RA model demonstrates a dorsal view of the right hand.
The Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Hand Model comes with a base and information card. It is ideal to be used in the teaching of medical and nursing students or to be used by orthopaedic doctors to demonstate to patients the effects of rheumatoid arthritis.
