This "Sinanthropus" skull model VP750/1 / 1001293 has been cast from scientifically-made replicas of original specimens which have since been lost. The replicas reside in the Institute of Anthropology and Human Genetics for Biologists at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Germany. The details have been reproduced accurately and a relief map is included on the base which indicates where the specimen was found.
Sinanthropus is identified as belonging to the Homo erectus pekinensis genus and is a typical example of an early human. This specimen was discovered at Ahoukoudian, 40 Km south west of Peking. This anthropological skull was discovered between 1929 and 1936 and it is 400,000 years old.
