This model shows 4 different cross sections of a vein in a clever hinged designed. The four-piece vein shows the following sections:
- Normal vein with valves open: blood can pass through on its way to the heart.
- Normal vein with valves closed: blood is prevented from passing through in the incorrect direction.
- Vein with moderate thrombosis: shows the valves open and the start of blood pooling on the valves and clot formation.
- Vein with severe thrombosis: shows the valves open and a severe blood clot; blood clots can break away to cause damage such as pulmonary embolism.
This enlarged vein anatomy model is an ideal education model to teach patients about the functioning of the veins and the mechanism of thrombosis. The vein model comes with a colour educational card included.
