Liver Cirrhosis
A liver section exhibiting numerous distinct nodules ranging from 1 to 7mm in diameter. The liver's external surface is also characterised by nodularity and irregularity. This represents a case of liver cirrhosis, displaying a combination of micro- and macronodular patterns along with pronounced fatty changes
Liver with Vessels and Gallbladder
This specimen deviates from the typical liver size and shape, suggesting potential hepatomegaly at approximately 18cm in the midclavicular line. Measurement accuracy is limited due to various factors. While normal anatomical variation is a possibility, this specimen does not align with common variations like Riedel's lobe or "beaver tail" liver.
Fatty Liver
This liver section exhibits the typical yellow/grey and greasy aspect on one side, with the appearance limited to the outer margin on the other side. The central region shows a darker colouration, potentially indicating cirrhosis. This demonstrates an instance of hepatic fatty change.
Hepatic Duct Calculi and Obstructive Biliary Cirrhosis
This liver slice displays a nodular texture with a slightly thickened capsule and dilated intrahepatic bile ducts. An irregularly 10mm pigment-laden calculus is lodged in a distended hepatic duct, accompanied by a dislodged 3mm calculus. This exemplifies secondary biliary cirrhosis due to large duct obstruction by hepatic calculi.
