Glioblastoma Multiforme (Coronal Section through the Cerebral Hemisphere)
A coronal section showing a circular, haemorrhagic, and diverse tumour in the left temporal lobe, extending across the midline and replacing the corpus callosum, obliterating the ventricular system. Further sections confirm it as one massive tumour.
Glioblastoma Multiforme
A post-mortem coronal brain section that reveals a 4cm necrotic and haemorrhagic tumour. Invasion from the inferior frontal lobe into the lateral ventricle is observed, and meningeal spread is evident on examination of the posterior aspect of the specimen.
Glioma (Grade 3-4, Causing Papilloedema)
The specimen reveals a large intracerebral lesion, erasing the lateral ventricles and a significant portion of the internal capsule and basal ganglia on the right side. It infiltrates the corpus callosum, causing distortion in the aqueduct, with a vascular nature and notable areas of haemorrhage and necrosis, presenting a mottled appearance.
