A hydrocoele is fluid buildup between the layers of the tunica vaginalis around the testes. Communicating hydrocoeles stem from processus vaginalis non-closure, congenital or acquired. Non-communicating hydrocoeles result from fluid imbalance due to factors like infections, tumours, trauma, or lymphatic issues.
Chronic Hydrocoele
The specimen includes a bisected testis, tunica vaginalis, and the distal part of the spermatic cord. The cut surface reveals a normal testis with a thickened tunica vaginalis and a distended cavity, illustrating a case of chronic secondary communicating hydrocoele.
Hydrocoele
The specimen is a sliced testis with its coverings, revealing a distended cavity between the visceral and parietal layers of the tunica vaginalis caused by the accumulation of serous fluid. This represents a hydrocoele secondary to generalised oedema resulting from congestive cardiac failure.
