Tracheoesophageal Fistula and Oesophagus Atresia

The specimen features a fetus' tongue, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, and oesophagus. The trachea and bronchi are divided, revealing a Type C tracheoesophageal fistula with a communicating connection between the distal oesophagus and the trachea. The termination of the oesphagus as a blind pouch is difficult to discern.

Traumatic Oesophageal-aortic Fistula

The specimen consists of a block dissection involving the distal trachea, the aortic arch, and the oesophagus. The oesophageal mucosa displays ulceration and haemorrhage. A small blue probe reveals the presence of a fistula connecting the oesophagus to the posterior wall of the thoracic descending aorta.
