When the suit is worn, the manikin becomes detectable when observed with a thermal camera. The utilisation of thermal imaging cameras greatly enhances the speed and efficiency of victim localisation, particularly in environments marked by adverse visibility conditions.
Noteworthy characteristics of the suit include:
- Ease of application and removal of the suit onto a manikin as needed, allowing for versatile utilisation across various training scenarios.
- Subjected to rigorous testing by multiple UK-based Fire and Rescue organisations, employing FLIR Thermal Imaging Cameras.
- The utilisation of robust, woven material facilitates rapid heat dissipation across the entirety of the manikin’s body, including a hood that covers the head.
- In the event of soiling, the suit can be appropriately cleaned by machine washing.
- The battery functions similarly to a mobile phone, allowing for pre-heating of the suit, followed by an operational duration of approximately 1-2 hours (subject to ambient temperature conditions). Alternatively, the battery can be securely fastened to a holster on the leg, extending the usage time to 2-3 hours. This is a particularly valuable feature for search and rescue (SAR) or urban SAR operations.
- The battery is equipped with a waterproof E-O cord connector, a piezo switch, and an overpressure valve. Additionally, it features an integrated blue LED indicator that provides real-time feedback on the remaining charge level within the battery.
